Who Are You?

Here's an article I found on google but I don't know exactly where I found it!

I found this article to be very insightful...

"To be charismatic you need to have a strong inner sense of who you are, which creates a sense of trustworthiness in others. When you’re in tune with your authentic inner self you are magnetic and compelling to others. You have to listen to yourself and really become open with others. This makes you accessible—but it also makes you difficult to sway from your own thoughts and feelings.
So who is your true, inner self? It’s that person you become when you’re safe and secure in yourself. Think about the times you’ve been around people in your life who would accept you no matter what. You can be silly or serious. You can be happy or sad. You can even have an explosion of temper. You can be who you are and these people will always accept you and always take you back. Whoever it is you can be around these people or this person? That’s your inner self.
It’s possible you haven’t had the benefit of having someone like that in your life. It’s possible there is someone like that in your life, but you’ve always worn your masks anyway, so you’ve never given yourself the experience of being your true, authentic, inner self. This can be hard. It can be hard to connect with that person, because we’re always trying to account for who and what society wants us to be. Sometimes it’s very easy to get caught up in a cycle of attempting to be the person that other people want or expect.

Some people are constantly trying to decide if they’re “good enough” or not. They’ve got a list of criteria in their mind. It’s like a checklist, telling them that they are worthy or unworthy depending upon how they’re managing to get those check marks in place on any given day.
In truth, you don’t have to charge yourself admission to this life. You don’t have to prove your right to breathe the same air as everybody else. One hopes you wouldn’t be demanding this proof of anyone else, so why demand it of yourself? You have to let go of your “should bes.” You have to get rid of your “I ought to bes.” Did you know those statements automatically imply there’s something wrong with you? They literally program your sub-conscious to decide that you have to be “fixed,” and that you don’t have the right to fully participate in life until you’ve been “fixed.”

You don’t have to be fixed. You are who you are. You have good qualities. You have a few areas for improvements. People come in a variety. Quit trying to compete. Quit trying to be someone else. Quit filling out the checklist. The road to happiness is to just be you—and the road to being loved and adored is to just be you.

So what happens when you are yourself? First, you’re able to connect to people better because you feel you are true and consistent. You are safe and secure in yourself. You’ve gotten out of the protection mode. You’ve gotten out of the apology mode. You’ve gotten out of the approval seeking and people pleasing mode. You know who you are and you’re okay with that.
The effect this has on other people is amazing. You build trust when you are your authentic self. Why? You build trust because other people can sense you’re not hiding from them. They don’t have to play the same guessing games with you that they have to play with other people. They’re not stuck trying to decide which parts of you are a mask and which parts of you are real. They know on an instinctive level that they’re getting the real deal. There’s no subterfuge. When people trust you they move right on to liking you. People like people they trust!

! You also tell people something else when you’re authentic.

You tell people it is okay for them to be authentic too. You tell them that you’re willing to accept them as they are, without trying to impose your beliefs, your control, or your views on them. Your self-confidence has a relaxing effect on others. Your self-confidence also has an attractive, magnetic quality. You become a compelling individual because you’re so different. You’re refreshing! People want to experience this for themselves.
They want to be closer to what you’ve got to offer. They want to understand how to grab a little of this for themselves. You are not the only person who has spent a lifetime trying to please other people. You are not the only person who has been living a lie up until now. People want to know how to escape. Here you are, and you’re authentic, and you’ve broken free from some sort of trap. How can people do anything but draw closer to you?

Your inner self, freely expressed, helps you create the quality of charisma.

What is charisma? Charisma is a quality that makes you likeable. It’s a quality that makes you attractive to other people because it makes other people feel at ease with you. It’s possible to be drop dead gorgeous and have no charisma, because if you make people feel like they can’t approach you then you cannot have this quality.

A charismatic makes people want to be near him or her. They do so because they make people feel good when they’re around them."
